To enhance the hunting experience through the use of trained hunting retriever dogs, encourage and promote the breeding of purebred retriever dogs and to bring their natural qualities to perfection, to do all in our powers to protect and advance the interest of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike participation at hunting and retrieving tests, to urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the A.K.C. as a standard of excellence by which retrievers should be judged, to conduct sanctioned and licensed hunting retriever field tests under the rules of the A.K.C. and N.A.H.R.A., and foremost to enjoy working with a trained retriever.
